At what age should I start bringing my child to the dentist?
We’re pleased to welcome patients of all ages to our Inman, SC dental office. We like to begin seeing kids as early as possible, preferably between the ages of six months to a year. These early visits are not as much to perform any dental work as they are to familiarize your child with all the new people and different surroundings.
Frequent visits to our office before we begin treatment helps kids get used to the unique sights and sounds of a dental office. They’ll get to know our team, and as they get older, we can show them how different equipment works and even give them a ride in the dental chair.
Monitoring your child’s development with childhood dental exams and cleanings ensures that everything is moving along on schedule. We’ll check for common conditions such as dental decay and gum disease. You may be surprised to learn that even very young children are at risk for both!
When you start your little one at the dentist at a young age, dental care becomes an established part of their health routine early on. As your child gets older we will continue to monitor them and make age-appropriate recommendations, such as an orthodontic evaluation.
