Limited Orthodontics

Would you like to straighten crooked teeth but refuse to wear metal braces on your teeth? Everyone deserves to love the look of their smile, and with ClearCorrect invisible braces, a straighter smile is possible for everyone.

Instead of brackets and wires, ClearCorrect uses comfortable plastic aligners to move your teeth. Since they are crystal-clear and conform to the shape of your teeth perfectly, most people won’t notice that you’re wearing them. And with ClearCorrect at our Inman, SC dental office, you can take the aligners out for meals and to brush and floss. How does ClearCorrect treatment work?

ClearCorrect helps you achieve that beautiful smile you have always wanted by straightening and aligning your teeth to a more aesthetic and functional position. This orthodontic treatment system uses a series of removable clear trays or aligners to apply pressure on teeth to move them into the desired position.

It is an excellent treatment option for individuals looking to obtain results discreetly without the esthetic issue of traditional braces. The ultimate goal of ClearCorrect treatment in Inman, SC is to provide patients with an attractive and functional smile.

The benefits of ClearCorrect invisible braces include an improved appearance, improved function of teeth, and prevention of damage to teeth. If the teeth are correctly aligned, they will fit together better, and it will help you chew and not wear down your teeth.

Are there any restrictions while wearing ClearCorrect?

Another advantage of ClearCorrect treatment is that unlike traditional braces, you can eat whatever foods you would like. Before eating and drinking, you should take the aligner trays out, and before placing them back in your mouth, you should be sure to brush and floss your teeth.

You shouldn’t try chewing gum because it can stick to your aligners. Our ClearCorrect dentist in Inman, SC also suggests that patients do not smoke because it can stain the trays and cause them to discolor.

What do I need to know about ClearCorrect treatment?

If you decide you would like to complete ClearCorrect treatment after our initial consultation, we will begin by either making impressions of your teeth or by completing an intraoral scan. Following this appointment, we will communicate with ClearCorrect to come up with a custom treatment plan created just for you!

Dr. Hunt will discuss the goals of this treatment and the length of time your treatment will likely take. You will receive your first set of trays, and they will feel a little tight in the beginning, but this is normal and to be expected. Remember that we are relying on the aligner trays to apply pressure to your teeth to move them in the correct position. Your teeth will have to get used to the pressure that is being applied to them, and your soft tissue (gums) will have to get used to having a foreign material in your mouth.

You also may experience a slight lisp for the first few days wearing ClearCorrect while your mouth and tongue get used to the trays. This lisp will go away with time.

You will go through a series of clear aligners until you complete your treatment. For your treatment to proceed as planned, you must wear the trays 22 hours a day, only taking them out to eat, drink, or brush and floss your teeth.

We will typically give you two sets of trays each visit. You will wear the first set for two to three weeks, then switch to the second set and wear them for the prescribed time.

After that time, you will come back to our Inman, SC dental office for your next set of ClearCorrect trays.

How long does ClearCorrect take to straighten teeth?

Every case is different depending on your current teeth position and what your final goals are for their teeth. The average treatment length is approximately one year, but some cases can be less than a year, and some can be more than a year.

Tooth movement is variable, and we cannot guarantee teeth will move at a specific rate. You must wear the trays for 22 hours a day for the treatment to proceed as planned and straighten your smile as quickly as possible.

How often do I need appointments during ClearCorrect treatment?

Plan on coming back to our Spartansburg or Inman dental offices every four to six weeks for us to evaluate the teeth and make sure they are moving as planned. Throughout your treatment, we may have to use certain techniques to move teeth in their desired position. These may include placing “buttons” on your teeth or completing interproximal reduction.

“Buttons” is the term for small attachments of tooth-colored filling material on the front part of your teeth to help move your teeth. They are not very noticeable, and we will remove them when you complete your ClearCorrect treatment. Interproximal reduction is a technique used to create space by using “sandpaper strips” or “sandpaper discs” in between the teeth. Both of these methods are safe and effective for moving teeth in certain positions.

Do I have to wear a retainer after ClearCorrect treatment?

Much like traditional braces, once you are complete with your orthodontic treatment, you will have to wear a retainer to keep the teeth positioned. Depending on the patient, we will either suggest a clear retainer or a fixed retainer.

Am I a good candidate for ClearCorrect?

You will need to come into our office for a consultation to determine if ClearCorrect is the right orthodontic treatment for you. For any patient who wants to correct minor to moderate crowding, spacing, or bite issues, ClearCorrect invisible braces in Inman, SC are an excellent choice. Invisible braces are also great for patients who previously had orthodontic treatment and have had a relapse, meaning you once had braces, but now your teeth have moved.

Although ClearCorrect can be used to improve many orthodontic issues, there are some situations in which traditional braces are best. Patients with multiple missing teeth, poor oral hygiene, and active periodontal (gum) disease are typically not good candidates for ClearCorrect. Also, patients who cannot commit to wearing the trays for 22 hours a day are not good candidates for ClearCorrect.
